Risk of investing points into assigned commanders?

I suppose it is more of a guarantee risk-free if you go and create the profiles, invite them to the game (achievements) and assign them as commanders. Invest all points into them as they won't ever close down the FaceBook profiles...

Something your buddies or unknown buddies could do...lose all points you invested in commanders? Unless closed profile or not, still there....also unless..get the commander points back?
